Driven to Distraction is a book focused on helping people recognize and cope with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. I should say, when the book was written, Attention Deficit Disorder (or ADD) was the accepted term. While the name of the disorder has changed, the relevance of the information has not.

I hadn’t even finished reading Driven to Distraction, and I had already noticed that I was better able to recognize when one of my patients was likely struggling with ADHD. While the book started out a bit slow as it went through many examples of how ADHD can appear in a person, this helped me recognize how the impact of the disorder is highly varied. The books goes on to discuss more about ADHD, how to cope with it, and provides helpful tips to manage ADHD and its effects.

This is a book I would highly recommend to those with ADHD, the family and friends of people with ADHD, and for the professionals who work with people with ADHD. As a therapist, I have found this book to be a highly valuable resource.
